Remarkably ugly ship! I was told these car carriers can hold
over 7000 cars! The name of this ship (docked in Charleston)
was Michigan Highway - but its home port was Kobe, Japan!
If you click on this photo, you'll see the sign board reads just
over 63 feet. This makes it tough for sailboats with 65-ft masts.
I'm surprised they were so skimpy with this relatively new
bridge - just south of Charleston.
Great cruising weather - for powerboats! Not so great for sailors,
however - mouse-over to see sailboat - motoring, of course.
Some of these docks are absurdly long! This one, which appears
to be at least a half mile long, is for sale. (I assume there's a
house somewhere at the other end.) Near Beaufort, SC.

Nettles Island as seen from the ICW. Not many transients stop here. They seldom answer the radio - or telephone!
But there's a nice community of live-aboards here, and for us, it's good place to keep our boat close to our "house".
